The Game
Zitherin is an advanced play-to-earn RPG on the blockchain, leveraging NFTs, ERC20 tokens, and more.
Humans playing the game are referred to as Players. Players mint Heroes, and through these heroes interact with the world of Zitherin.
A Hero is an ERC721 token, made up of traits. The traits that belong to a Hero token can be called equipment. As a Hero collects more equipment, the Hero becomes stronger and stronger.
Throughout Zitherin, there are dungeons, filled with monsters, treasure, and more. Dungeons are additional ERC721 tokens. At mint time, the traits of a dungeon are determined at random. These traits can include the number and strength of monsters, the quantity and type of treasure, and additional features for the dungeon. Players may send their Heroes into a dungeon to battle monsters, get rewarded with additional traits and tokens, find treasure, and even uncover additional NFTs.
While dungeons are a PvE feature of Zitherin, PvP is enabled via arenas. Arenas are ERC721 tokens which, similar to dungeons, have traits determined at random during mint time that have an impact on the player experience within the arena. Zitherin will support 1v1, 2v2, and 5v5 arenas. Engage in single player, pair, or team-based combat! For each arena battle, the winner is rewarded in treasure, traits, and more.
In addition to finding more equipment in dungeons and arenas, players may also craft new equipment for their heroes. Crafting recipes are implemented in Zitherin via ERC721 tokens. In line with all NFTs in Zitherin, the traits of the token are determined, at random, at mint time. Crafting materials come in the form of various ERC20 tokens: adhesive, ore, wood, and spectral dust. Players are rewarded with crafting material as they explore the world of Zitherin.
Additionally, players may choose to earn passive rewards in Zitherin, through mercenary mode for your heroes. When a player sets their hero to be a mercenary, the hero becomes unplayable for the owning player. Once in mercenary mode, other players can hire the hero, at the price set by the owning player when they enabled mercenary mode. Hiring mercenary heroes lets other players use the hero as if it was their own. When a hero earns rewards, the majority are awarded to the hiring player, with a small percent of the rewards going to the owning player.
In addition to earning a share of the rewards, an owning player is rewarded in ERC20 tokens while their hero is in mercenary mode.
One of the key aspects of Zitherin is that traits are tradeable. This means that your hero, once minted, is not static. You can trade traits with other players, you can discover new traits throughout your travels in Zitherin, and there can even be player-created traits!
The concept of tradeable traits is not unique to Heroes. Every ERC721 token in the world of Zitherin is composed of tradeable traits.
